"Past Rescues"

Lexis came to the shelter in September of 1999, because her owner was found unfit to care for her properly by the court. Lexis is a 3 year old, spayed girl who is looking for a home with lots of extra love to share, she is a little nervous when you first meet her, but she warms up rather quickly!!!

Casper was sent to us because his owner did not have time for him, he was placed through a good friend of mine, Dianne Spessard, She operates "Boxers To The Rescue", in Reston, Virginia. Casper was a 7 month old boy who loved life, he adored children, car rides, all other pets. He was crate trained and just the sweetest thing. Those slurps were pure joy!

This young man came to the shelter because he was getting too "Manly". He's a plain fawn, and had lots of spunk. He's very sweet, from 1 1/2 to 3 years old...He did "mark", but went to the vet to have his hormones controlled....LOL, his new owners said that he was doing very well with this, neutering was all he needed.

This mature lady came into the shelter, where I work, in mid Jan. of '99. Her owner never came looking for her.....Do you know who she was? If you recognize her, Please! E-mail me! She was found roaming around in No. Virginia...she was placed February 1st with a family that is owned by a 4 yr old neutered male boxer. She was well behaved and sooo loving and gentle,.....I almost kept this one! :Þ

This young neutered boy was found the day before our mature lady, and in the same vicinity....his owners have also not come looking for him, same owners perhaps...Hmmmm. This pup was also placed February 1st with a family looking to fill a void left by their previous pet.
"BUBBA" & "CANDY"

Bubba came to stay with us for awhile, because his "mommy" had past away. She had been sick for awhile. Her husband, being elderly and in a walker, had a difficult time trying to keep everything going during his wife's illness. In the best interest of everyone involved, they decided it would be best to sell the family home at this time and have "daddy" move in with his son.

To make a long story short.... His son lives close to me, and asked if I could care for the dog while he took care of settling his fathers estate and purchasing another in this area large enough for both his family, (they also have a white boxer),and his father & Bubba.
They have since found a house and will be moving in around the 1st of October.

In the meantime, I have taken the liberty to neuter, heartworm
test, and have a thorough health exam done on Bubba , with both of their blessings,
Bubba is a sweet loveable guy, about 1 1\2 years old who is a little weary of men at first . If they rush up to him, he will growl, bark and hide under my chair. Once they sit or bend down to greet him, he makes friends and its Kidney Beans and Slurps. :o)

Will I miss him when he goes home, ..... Of course, but I can visit. :::::VBG::::: My Kidz will certainly be glad to see him leave! They do not care much for sharing me. They do however, tolerate my fostering, Well.... Grumbling and Complaining the whole time.......

UPDATE
Bubba's dad was really happy to have him home, and Bella, his big sister, really loves him.
She's getting some long overdue exercise, But don't tell her I said that. :o)
CANDY -- October 5,1998
Here is another little girl who was displaced. Candy came into the shelter where I work because her owner was not allowed to have dogs in his apartment. He had found her roaming in Herndon, Va. a month prior to surrendering her to the shelter. Candy is about 2 years old, has a horrible ear crop, it's the fighting crop we see on pit bulls in this area! Her tail was docked at the 1st vertebrae like that of a rottweiler. She has a long muzzle and a very pronounced underbite, however, she is surprisingly healthy and to our amazement, was spayed before her first heat!!!

Candy is quite calm for such a young lady, and she is just the sweetest thing! She was placed easily within 3 days of her arrival. Candy went to live with a woman in Springfield, Va. whose former dog had passed away due to cancer, 6 months ago. At their first meeting, the woman, in a flood of emotion, held Candy close as tears streamed down her cheeks. Candy ever so gently, kissed her tears away and the bond was made. Two weeks later, it is a match made in heaven!!!
